Richard Bell Venice Biennale Proposal

Richard Bell's proposal for the 2019 Venice Biennale shuts down Australia's pavillion ("the black box for white art") and wraps it in chains, while staging his 'EMBASSY: BELL Invites…' installation on the Island of Certosa.

The proposal functions both as a form of institutional critique through an architectural intervention, and as a search for solutions to the problems of capitalism and settler colonialism.

The proposal publication carries these ideas beyond the Biennale.
